Okavango Delta

The Okovango Delta is a famous safari destination and is the largest inland delta in the world. This area is one of the most scenic and wild regions of Africa. At the heart of the Okovango Delta is the Moremi Wildlife Reserve.

In summer the flood arrives from the highlands of Angola and forms a huge network of water channels and lagoons which are eventually soaked up by the Kalahari Desert. The floods reach their peak in May and then gradually subside. The constant change in water levels results in a remarkable variety of habitats and landscapes. This lush wilderness of papyrus swamps and shallow reed beds make it a world class destination for wildlife watching.

Herds of impala and tssessebe are easily seen along with lechwe and the rare sitatunga. Predators including lions, cheetahs and wild dogs hunt in the open grasslands, naturally hippos and crocodiles are present in the many water channels. Gliding through the channels in a mokoro (dug out canoe) gives a unique perspective and it’s a great way to explore the delta and watch wildlife at eye level or find yourself looking up at an elephant on one of the islands.

The private wildlife concessions within this location help to make your luxury Botswana safari holiday a very exclusive adventure in the uniqueand beautiful Okovango Delta

Chobe National Park

The Chobe National Park, which is the second largest national park in Botswana, has one of the greatest concentrations of game found on the African continent. Chobe’s uniqueness in the abundance of wildlife and the true African nature of the area, offers a luxury African safari holiday experience of a lifetime for all to enjoy.

Chobe National Park is divided into four distinctly different eco systems: Serondela with its lush plains and dense forests in the Chobe River area in the extreme north-east; the Savuti Marsh in the west; the wonderful Linyanti Swamps in the north-west and with the hot dry hinterland in between.

A major feature of Chobe National Park is its elephant population currently estimated at around 120,000. The Chobe elephant are migratory, making seasonal movements of up to 200 km from the Chobe and Linyanti rivers, where they concentrate in the dry season, to the pans in the southeast of the park, to which they disperse in the rains. There is also a healthy population of big cats, antelope, hippo, giraffe, and many other varieties of wildlife within Chobe National Park.

The Linyanti Game Reserve

Between the Okavango Delta and the Chobe river in northern Botswana lies the Linyanti Game Reserve. It lies between the confluence of the Kwando and Linyanti rivers, hemmed in by the Moremi and Chobe National Parks. Secluded and uncrowded, this area of swampy river frontage is similar to the Okavango's permanent waterways with papyrus-lined lagoons, reed-beds and a towering canopy of trees.

Aknowledged as one of the best wildlife viewing locations in Africa today, the Linyanti is famous for large herds of animals. Animals are present during all seasons, and at certain times of the year their numbers can be staggering. If you allow yourself adequate time here you will probably see nearly all the major mammal species including giraffe, elephant, tsessebe, roan, sable, wildebeest, and buffalo. The Linyanti Wildlife Reserve is famous for its predators, particularly its resident lions and spotted hyena populations.

Moremi Wildlife Reserve

Botswana’s Moremi Wildlife Reserve lies in the centre of the Okavango Delta, the largest inland delta in the world. Named after the chief of the Batawana tribe who declared the reserve in 1963, it consists of permanently swamped areas, seasonally swamped areas and dry land, and covers an area of 3,000 sqkm.

The reserve encompasses a wide range of habitats – from wetland, floodplain and reed beds to forest and savannah woodland. The fauna inhabiting the park is abundant and equally diverse, ranging from exotic birds, zebras, buffalo, wildebeest and giraffes to hippos and lions; the only large African mammals not found here are rhino.

The luxury Lodges around Moremi Game Reserve have a variety of activities and facilities, including wildlife viewing game drives, mokoro rides, and game walks.
